Jokes and the People that tell them
To experience comedy as an art and to mature in life with it in the background, always there to rely and lean on, to criticize and improve or make worse
It’s hard when the past generations were filtered for you and you only experienced the genius
When the future generation looks so young and lame
And when your peers turn out to be assholes
Saying that comedy existed even in the holocaust has gone from meaning that comedy is something you can even depend on in the throes of other people’s control and abuse to meaning “hey, we’re comedians. Even if the holocaust comes back, we’ll be able to find a gig.”
The internet fostered anonymity to the point that anonymous became an audience
Playing for the webosphere, in which the denizens are converted series’ of boolean truths, the comedian at some point started creating content for an anonymous crowd. As part of the feedback loop, the comedian received validation in the form of recognition, acknowledgment, and financial gain.
The process of converting denizens into algebraic equations and domesticating them through algorithmic patterns creating a new world. Click farms then became a thing because anonymous had a low threshold for existence. Computers were then optimized to not need a human and rather mimic intelligence. Anonymous yet becoming more diverse.
Anonymous went from a person hiding their identity to a specter of propaganda. An extension of human’s internal want not tied to a body or history. A dynamic reaction with a drive to reassemble itself as not just an audience, but as an audience with a face.
It became Peter Pan. Distorting and disfiguring itself to be who is being talked to.
This in turn lowered the comedian’s job until it became the fool of nazis.
