Senseless agencies and formulated aspirations coöperate in the work of driving mankind from its old anchorage. Sometimes the period of change is an age of hope, sometimes it is an age of despair.

  • Alfred N. Whitehead

You’re given the weight of pain while Ayn asks you to shrug

The economist suggest to invest

The father points out God in the struggle

Breaking waves keep the body cold

The hope of tomorrow makes you weak and strong

What of this pain? What of a smile in its face?

The comedian asks you to laugh

But to what end?

The doctor calls you brave and laments the casualty of war

The recipe cut in half

The life cut short

Lived long enough to know

The living isn’t enough

HR tells you the company isn’t at fault

The elected official speaks for the people

Your mind slips into an unknown equation

And you live forever
