Punks, Folks, & Drag: on Winks
Para vivir hay que sufrir
Y contigo vivo contento

So there’s folk psychology that is recognized by some as the theory behind a local community’s understanding of the world around them. If we picture it as a Venn diagram, there are some understanding that belongs to the entire community (for example, gravity is understood by all to at least some practical degree). From there, understanding becomes more privileged.
Intuition can be limited to genetics or social class upbringing. Experiencing being a good athlete, a talented musician, or a popular person gives certain understanding of how the world works but not everyone can experience that. Even a good athlete will only come to understand athleticism from the perspective of the sport they play.
Opposed to folk psychology is contemporary psychology. That’s psychology that is rigorous and scientific and theoretical in an advanced form of understanding that a person has to study and comprehend before they can understand. Psychology can be explained to laypeople but the understanding reached by the laypeople will be limited to their folk psychology.
Ironically, even the psychologist trained in science will have a corresponding folk psychology that will continue to be the base of their more trained perspective.
Folk psychology explains bias, subjectivity contrasted from objective psychology, whose bias and subjectivity are paradoxically sought objectified.
Folk psychology treats psychology as a substance made up of objective theoretical correlations determined by an individual capable of mirroring those correlations with further theory.
Any individual capable of forming theories about the world carries with them a substance that objectively reacts to the world and reacts with an intention to impact the greater psychology of the community. The movement of this psychology is deciphered by some kind of psychology.
There is some kind of psychology forming around these words in the reader. The psychology is folk. Against the dogma, we can say there’s some psychology that’s punk. Against heteronormativity, we can say there’s some psychology that’s drag. With a wink, the epistemology behind the theory is confirmed as psychology.
Awareness added to theory creates meta-theories. Theories about what theory is. With psychology in its sight, metatheories form around metatheories.
