Quality of Life and The Burden of Being

--

Can you imagine the burden lifted?

Does it go anywhere?

Or does it perpetually hover

And the burden persist yet doesn’t impress

But the burden is always there

Today I’m able to get out bed

My limbs go easily numb

My toes feel like they’re being eating alive

But the persistence is not yet debilitating

The quality of life could be worse

The guilt pushes you to let the blessings warm sun on your face

And so the burden doesn’t impress

The body persists

The days work is done

The fruits are harvested and the sugar sweet

The bed is soft

And tomorrow I might still be able to get up
