The Moment Lends Itself to Irony
En la vida, lo que toca, toca.

What does it mean for a moment not to lend itself to irony? Exactly!
Some would call the non-ironic moment dogma. T.Ad. may have called it a stepping stone towards a freedom that free-form irony could never reach.
The violent non-ironic moment that prolongs its own interest puts every non-own at risk for manipulation. A manipulation that forces an abiding of the non-irony. A discipline that leads to the freedom of being able to exist in a created context.
To exist in a non-created context is to create an improvised jazz.
Without warning, in the middle of a free jazz melody, the next beat will keep the song alive. There’s no structure to live up to. The structure will be formed by the beat. Is it a freeing/liberating occasion? A moment lent to irony?
To contrast, a structured sonata would be full of expectations. Does the apprehension created through the pretension of a structurally optimized & engineered sonata create a greater freedom? Does it create a structure of more movement? A greater creation?
The free jazz holds no promise. Just opportunities. The opportunities lack the pretension of the sonata. The opportunity is quick and present. In the moment, a decision must be made to keep the moment alive. The death will kill the music. Is it worth keeping the moment alive?
Wouldn’t it be better to kill the jazz and create a structured path to a greater quality of living?
