See, if I laid down shit too thick like asphalt, that’d be too street
Block shit, drama, baby mamas, rumors, half-truths, full lies, paranoia, schizophrenia
Go see a therapist if you want to get out
But down here, there’s no poetry. It’s not open to interpretation
The words are law and violation means demise
That other world, of poetry, art, flimsy hope, dreamy escapes
Legalese — a divide between the world and the spirit
Where beauty may exist, may be experienced
Is too far removed from a place where hunger is clockwork
And rent is due everyday
It would be nice
A nest egg
Room to breathe
Lounge in luxury
Reap expensive sow
But you can’t come in
There’s work to be done out there
The poetry is for after the game
For when there’s nothing on the line, no gamble
The fix was in and it went through
So now we can talk about colors and how they make you feel
Drinks and how complex they taste
